I don't know much about bills, but I got a 5$ serial 87888988 in change today. I think 8 is considered lucky in some areas, do you think it may be worth anything more than face?

Yes it's worth a premium. In the Japanese culture "8" is a lucky number. Try selling it on E-bay.

I don't collect currency per se, but I always look for interesting serials. Asked my wife to go through her purse yesterday and she pulled out a $5 that starts with 5 consecutive 8's. Not in the greatest shape but I put it aside for now.
