Just got it yesterday in the mail. Pretty good deal at $41.00 shipped. My big thing is that it weighs only 11.7 grams. Is that "in range" for worn Barber Halves

I'm not sure about the weight, but you got a good price, even with the uneven wear and rim hit.

Well Red Book says the weight is supposed to be 12.5g, so given the wear I'd say yep, you're safe! Good buy! =)

I was surprised I won it for that. Not normal that I win a coin for less then 60% of the book price (for a G-4). Would have been cheaper but the seller mailed it in a small flat rate box. I am now waiting for a few Barber's more I won off ebay. I feel that they are better then the pics showed but will see when I get them.

Your coin is within tolerance for weight at that level of wear. Nice pickup ;)

so do you think ANACS would grade it at G4 even with the uneven wear and rim hit? Still a little upset with them after the last barber I sent in.

Detail looks like G-6 overall. I'd expect ANACS to downgrade it to G-4 due to the reverse rim hits and the weakness over GOD WE on the obverse. I don't think they would flag it as a problem coin but given the relatively low value of the coin I wouldn't invest the grading fee. Use that money instead to buy another Barber half in choice VG grade!

My thought is that I paid $41 for it and it will cost another $14 to grade it for a total investment of $55. That is still pretty cheap for the coin in my opinion but I could be wrong.
