Morgan.1879-S.-Reverse-2-Or-3?

Morgan.1879-S.-Reverse-2-Or-3?

This is an 1879s Morgan. In the Red Book, there are 2 versions listed. 2nd and 3rd reverse. Can anyone determine which this one might be?.. and if possible, what it is that you are seeing to make that determination.

Has to do with the eagle's breast: majority are struck with a rounded breast (Type III), small number struck with the old-style flat breast (Type II). I've read that Type II's in good condition are rare.

Note the "sunken" breast and parallel arrow feather.
