I'm currently looking for an Alexandria mint Roman. I managed to find this nice example: Constantine I AE reduced follis, 16 mm and 1.31 g, RIC 58. Think it's a good buy for $9 shipped? Thanks!  Also, just wondering. Is that desert patina on the coin? Edited by VisigothKing

With the amount of damage $9 would be a bit much for this coin.

Personally I would save the nine dollars here and save up a little more and then buy a coin that wasn't broken with a full clear mint mark. I'm not sure what that patina on your coin is but usually a desert patina looks like this.  You know I've noticed that a lot of coins coming from Spain have desert patinas. I wonder if they are found more often there. A desert patina is really a petrified sand stuck on the coin, on top of another dark patina of the original bronze....I think. It must occur in a dryer environment. Edited by Doucet

Yeah this one was $5 + $4 shipping. But anyways, I spent the cash on a better coin. Should be here in a few days.

In these sorts of cases, better to buy late Roman bronzes from coin shows, when the opportunity arises.
I spent $30 buying six of them in just this way, at a coin show a couple of weeks ago. Had a lot of fun attributing them fully.

The best stuff I may find buried under my yard is maybe like, alligator bones or something lol (my area used to be Everglades until about 50 years ago).
