Unknown Coin. Man W/ Leaf Crown On 1 Side, Bird On The Other

EchoBlade New Member United States 3 Posts	Posted 02/14/2012 02:58 am Okay so this may or may not be anything but any insight into this mystery coin is appreciated. I appologize in advance for the lack of clarity on these photos. This coin is silver in color and material, the yellow shaded lamp I used to light my photo makes the coin appear yellowish but it is indeed silver in color. They accepted it as if it were a quarter and didnt notice it until they tried handing it out as change to another customer. Report this Post to the Staff

Genuine examples of these coins are often marketed as Biblical coins, representing the "thirty pieces of silver" paid to Judas. As such, they are also very frequently copied. If you go to the Middle East, you will often find replica coins like this for sale; in most Middle Eastern countries, selling genuine ancient coins to tourists is illegal, but selling fakes is perfectly OK.
