Ambro Valued Member United States 66 Posts	Posted 03/19/2012 5:02 pm Attached are pics of two recent SLQ purchases. Any opions on grades would be appreciated. Also,would it be adviseable for me to try and carefulley remove the black spots on the 1926, it looks like the gunk/dirt would come off with a little work from a shappend piece of bamboo (which I use to clean uncleaned Roman coins with out a problem).Or would a dip in Acetone (which I have never used)or distilled water--remove the dirt on the coin. The dirt is character on the 1926, but its a pity about the stains on the 1928-D. There may be something that can be done about them, I'm sure someone will know. Report this Post to the Staff

I would probably not do anything to the coins as they are beautiful just the way they are. The black dots look like they may be carbon spots which I think can't be removed without damaging the coin. For a few dozen coins, you can buy a pint of 100% acetone at Mal-Wart for $2.50, next to the nail polish remover. Beats storing a gallon can. Report this Post to the Staff
