My new fiance and I will be coming back from upstate NY about that time. It would be great to finally meet mom and pop and some of those that helped me learn what little I know. I'll re-read everything to see what day you're taking the picture. Oh, sorry, no bike riding for me; especially if you're going through south Philly.

You have to go to South Philly, that is where you will find the best cheese steaks.

All of them. The worst Philly cheese steak is still the best you've ever had.

SsuperDdave are there any parts of town that are just plain unsafe. I have not been to Philly since 1991 when I was docked off South Columbia blvd for a week loading cable. There were some pretty seedy areas then but I assume things have changed around a bit since then

For those non ANA emmbers a coupon for $2 off entry may be found here

For those staying in Atlantic City most of the Casinos have a free shuttle service to the train station.

Train is $10 each way (NJ Line) and runs about every 2hrs
30th street stn is about 1.5miles from the convention center along JFK I think

Great Dave and thanks for that info Richard!
Oh, Dave. We are staying in Mount Laurel, NJ
for the time of the show. Is there a way to catch the train from there or do we have to drive each day?

Richard - and I say this as someone who intends to live there before the first snow falls - there are places around Philly I wouldn't step into even if armed. North and South are still a tad sketchy in places.

Dave - From Mt Laurel you're looking at the Lindenwold or Ashland PATCO (ridepatco.org) rail stations. PATCO is commuter rail running right into downtown, and will drop you a short walk from the venue.

Dave , I will be staying in a campground in NJ and from what I have found I will have to drive to the venue each day, it seems to be a 30 minute drive and then find a parking lot.
Would this be right or do you know anything that might help?

What campground, man? Even if you're not directly near Philly, there's regional rail service which may be a possible alternative. Knowing roughly where, I can figure out your best options, none of which involve parking in Philadelphia.

Dave, it is call, Timberlane Campground.
117 Timberlane Road
Clarksboro NJ

The add for it says it is the closest campground to Philly.

OK. Your options - I never expected the campground to be south, rather than north - are bit bit more intensive than Dave's. Use Google maps and septa.org or PATCO's website linked above to research further.

First choice: Commute over the Commodore Barry Bridge to either the Chester or Highland Avenue Regional Rail stations, on the Wilmington/Newark Line. Chester's a little farther, but has a ticket office; Highland Avenue *might* offer a better chance at parking. I don't know if you're going to be there for a day, or commuting over the course of days - trans passes might be in order. A little over 10 miles either way. This one drops you 2 blocks from the Convention Center.

Second choice: The Lindenwold PATCO station I recommended to Dave. Huge parking (but they need it), all the amenities. About 20 miles from you. It drops you 5 blocks from the Convention Center. Not a dealbreaker, IMO; city blocks aren't large but if mobility is a difficulty it might be relevant.

If you need more specific information, I would be happy to research and provide it.

I'm going to be their all week, so what I'm thinking then is to drive the first day and scope it out. The campground said they are 30 minutes way, we'll see. Now I have your options to look at , thanks Dave.
