Check this out guys. Someone put a bullion bombay in an unc P box and got $140 for it. He clearly states it's bullion but the obverse pics (save one) are clearly taken in a way to kinda hide the absence of a P. Very line-straddling auction imo... 151922520153Edited by Cascade

There can be people that do no realize there are 2 types. Sometimes you really have to know about the P version. I've seen Hawaii for $400 and the P version around $800. The unknowing may not get it

I have seen quite a few ATB bullion pucks in the mint boxes show up on ebay. I've even bought a bullion Vicksburg like that because it seemed like a great way to get a free box and COA. All but a few of the auctions I have seen have been clearly described as being bullion. However I think the urgency to purchase a sold out item sometimes makes a person bid based on picture rather than the description. I'd be willing to bet more than one person has been shocked that what they thought they were buying not what they got. And as mentioned, they may not know the difference. I've seen the same thing with bullion ASE sold in burnished ASE mint boxes. Those are even worse because seller might describe them as uncirculated. And some don't show anything but a picture of the obverse. Edited by 01GTB

That is actually in a different box. It is in a bullion box you can buy directly from the mint in lots of 25.

As with any bullion or coin purchase, the buyer should be knowlegeable about what they're buying. Ignorance is no excuse. The caveat remains buyer beware.

awesome Machine20. I had no clue the Mint sold bullion boxes.... I was going to say it was a totally deceptive and misleading auction but, with the correct bullion box, I have changed my mind.... They are messing with us. There are over 100 still available three hours after they went back on sale so who knows if they minted 1000 more or a couple hundred. So much for the countdown excitement for future issues...  |
