Yes. The leading theory is returns which is what has been available this last week

Probably a large dealer order was cancelled, so those 500 unsold coins made Saratoga available again. I doubt they were returns, just a dealer that couldn't or wouldn't make payment, so they were released back into inventory.

That does make it more acceptable and believable than a re-strike of more coins or 490 returns. Way too many for just returns which usually are absorbed by additional orders or show as a negative of 15-30 or so....
So we can MAYBE surmise that the final numbers will not exceed the numbers when they went off sale...

Sounds good. I say assuming the mintage is the same from a dealer order and if they cancel these before they sell all of them then we should see a reduction in the final number but why wouldn't thry just leave them up till they sell. I guess it will all depend on how quick they sell or how backed up the mint will be if it's languishing

I decided that I wanted to have just one year of all the 5oz. for my collection. They sure are expensive. But I have the complete 2014 year set so if they discontinue and go sky high in value I would love it!

Quote: but why wouldn't thry just leave them up till they sell I think they will....but the total was 17,809 when they went dark...and then became available so the 17,809 should be the top number IF they sell all that they have

My guess is that in a month's time (Feb. 10th) APMEX will do that hourly presale of the Shawnee bullion pucks. The sale that goes up by $2-$3 per puck per hour as what happened with Bombay and Saratoga. Estimating the first day of Mint sales to be Feb. 22nd, unless the Mint still has no idea of how many to make per design for '16 because word from the Treas. Sect'y hasn't been handed down.

I just noticed in the US Mint schedule that these 5 oz coins still do not have a price listed. Maybe we can cross our fingers that it is lowered again like it was last yr. I know last yr was only $5.00 per coin, but silver is about $2/oz less now so maybe a lower price.

The cat & mouse game begins again - 88 Saratoga P pucks left as of now... Does anyone know when the 2016 ATB bullion coins will be released?
