Interesting confirmation from Provident about the Pic Rocks sellout

Quote:
Last week, the US Mint caught the market off guard with a surprise sell-out. The 2018 Pictured Rocks ATB coin—the first of the 2018 America the Beautiful series—ended production with a paltry mintage of just 20,000. To put this number in perspective, the US Mint typically strikes millions (if not tens of millions) of Silver Eagles each year. Even collector-edition coins, like Proof Silver Eagles or modern commemorative Silver Dollars, often have mintages in the hundreds of thousands. Simply put, 20,000 is a tiny number for any modern US Mint product.

What does this mean for collectors and investors? If you were one of the lucky buyers who acted early, you picked up a new rarity at a bargain price. At just 20,000 coins, the 2018 Pictured Rocks ATB is tied for the lowest mintage in the America the Beautiful series. It joins the 2012 Denali, 2012 Hawaii, 2017 Ozark, and 2017 Frederick Douglass issues in the 20k mintage club.

Sooooo..has it really tied those others for lowest mintage OR is it now the routine number?

FWIW, the Proof UNC version is still available from the mint directly.

Maybe people are spending their tax refunds on bullion.

I think the return factor on proof pucks would be through the roof. There are too many issues with proofs right now, so coins multiple times as big would be far more likely to have these problems.

Do you think the vapor blasts tend to hide imperfections from the pucks? I haven't received one from the mint that I thought about returning ( knock on wood )

I have been buyng these since day one and not just one of each and NEVER had to return a single puck...so how did the Clark decrease every week and the latest one drop by over 700? A bad CC would not permanently drop the number but rather just postpone it to another sale....Clark proved this wrong

I preordered an Apostle Islands from JM Bullion last night. It was at $99.80 to $99.95 most all afternoon. I had to wait until silver went up a bit so the price would go over $100 for the free shipping.

Doesn't JM have free shipping regardless of order size?
