Received my War in the Pacific P-puck on Thursday and am just getting around to checking it out (been out of town). While I'm not a huge fan of the design, the puck itself looks good.
8 to go.

If anyone needs some of the 2011 bullion issues (Vicksburg, Gettysburg, Glacier) to fill holes in a collection or whatnot, these are currently available at JMBullion for $4.49/oz over spot.

I have probably LOST more money, percentage wise, on the ATB I purchased in 2010 : NP-2 Yellowstone; NP-3 Yosemite; and NP-4 Grand Canyon. The US Mint sold these at $279.95 + shipping. The coins are attractive, I just can't get over the blood bath I have taken on purchasing them. I guess my purchases were just nine years too early.

Yeah, that was unfortunate timing with the silver boom for collectors of the P-pucks. At least a majority of the pucks have since sold around the $150 mark.

I recently purchased a Yosemite P puck on ebay, but it didn't come with a box or COA papers. I figured I could get that later. Then I noticed that the puck somewhere along the line had been removed from it's original government encapsulated holder and placed in a different holder. The holder that I have is a bit smaller than the government sized holder. My question is, can I purchase the government size holder somewhere? Does anyone know the specification size of the government holder. If I can't get the correct size holder, then there's no use for me to buy and empty COA box for the coin, since my coin will be loose in the holder.

Welcome, michsundevil! Occasionally, you will find OGP offered on ebay. APMEX has them as well: https://www.apmex.com/product/90735...oin-yosemiteThe capsule on the other hand will be difficult to get hold of. All I can suggest you is to chat to the US Mint. Maybe they can tell you where they source them from. Or perhaps someone else on this forum can help you out. Good luck!

Yes, it definitely has the P mint mark. I went back to the original ebay listing to check on how the seller described it. He only put pictures of the obverse and reverse of the puck, and no pictures of the OGP. And his description didn't mention anything about any OGP accompanying the coin. So, it's not like he misled me or anything. I just figured I was getting the puck for a good price and I could pick up all the OGP stuff later. Only after I received the puck did I realize the capsule wasn't the same size as the other P mint capsules that I have. One ebay seller currently has the OGP for sale at a good price, but no capsule. Maybe one of the members of this forum has an extra one laying around - I'm assuming somebody might have broken theirs out to submit the puck to a grading service.

^ Actually, why don't you call NGC or PCGS? They receive plenty of these pucks and put them in new holders. They are left with the capsules in the end...

So much for the US Mint's return policy (sales figures over time)... I guess the 'big fish' companies can still return as much as they like.

Really cool data & graphs, omxfl. Guess the big guys speculate for a month and then dump.

Quote: ...Guess the big guys speculate for a month and then dump I doubt that speculation is the reason. In my opinion, the 'big guys' get 5,000 to 10,000 coins from the Mint then send them to a TPG. If a coin grade is lower than MS69 (or MS70), the TPG will not slab them and just send them back to the 'big guys', who then send them back to the Mint for a full refund. The Mint will then resell those coins to 'commoners' (us). Also, the TPG's will make more money (10x?) checking the coins they DO slab, so it's my belief that more MS69's will slab as MS70's, more 67-68's will slab into 69's, etc
