1857 Flying Eagle Question - Coin Community Forum

pman860507 Pillar of the Community United States 784 Posts	Posted 12/19/2011 2:35 pm Im not really big inot the classic coins as when I started out since LWC and LMC are way cheaper route. I got a 1957 Flying Eagle for 10.00 on ebay and when I looked at it, it looks like there is a S mint mark on it. Its in the same place that the IHC S mint marks are. What would cause this? since I'm pretty sure they didnt have S mint marks back in the day. (i could be wrong) Maybe I'm just seeing things who knows. Wonder if something just hit it in the many years its been around. What if it was not for a small cent? though I dont really know how big that coin is or how big the S mint mark is.
