Bill, did you by chance find out if my coin is the FULD plate coin? Also, my CWT arrived today and it is absolutely beautiful. Definitely better in-hand than the pictures. It is almost proof-like. Also, the reverse die is 90 degrees off-set as compared to the obverse. Is this normal for the MI 224 AV-1a

Dave; Page 240 of the new 3'd Edition of Fuld has a nice picture of a full red Martin Brothers CWT. It is identified ad Die 25420 under the new Fuld Unified System.
The Plate coin being full is full red so it looks like your token is not the one pictured.

Oh well... Can't win them all. Thanks for checking. At least we know that ones not an MS-66 though What about the 45 degree rotated reverse die (erroneously stated as 90 degree rotation in previous messages)? Is that normal for this variety?

Die rotations are common on CWT's The small shops that made them didn't use a lot of quality control.

I know, but didn't know if it was unique to that merchant...

Anyone get anything at the FUN show? I tried twice to look over Steve Hayden's inventory, but both times I stopped by his table the cases were covered with books and the junk of other people at the show. I bet Steve appreciates when his cases are covered/cluttered for 90% of the show time given all of his high dollar items are in those. I came away with an c. 1860 Lovett token from the show, but no Civil War tokens.

Didn't make to FUN but I understand that Steve was showing Lots from his January auction, that probably created congestion all by itself. I did well in his Auction and picked up the following piece. It's been a long dry spell for me in searching for Jackson, Michigan store cards. There are a few common varieties that show up regularly but the higher rarities only come to market occasionally. This one came to market and will soon be in my hands. Only 8 more to go, of which 6 are R-9's and 2 are R-10's.

OK, so I probably don't need 3 of this particular token in MS64 or higher, but I added this one anyway. It's hard to pass up a nice example at a decent price.

Heres my second token purchase. Could anyone help me out with attribution? I have seen other examples with the Bull head, but mine seems a bit different. Others are brass, mine seems to be copper. Also, on the brass examples the tongue is much more visible, the hair flows in a different pattern, and the stars are seemingly larger.

Is the edge of the token plain or reeded? If it is indeed copper, and has a plain edge, it is the NY-630-BQ-2a w/ dies 30380/30370 and is an R6.
