LOL. Yes, Dave, it was in a NGC slab. And I did wipe it off when I was done.

That was very considerate of you... and I'm sure Steve appreciated it as well

There definitely haven't been as many posts here in quite a while. Don't see near as much from Brandon (brg5658) or CheetahCats anymore...

for me, Civil War Tokens and coins for my Birth Year Set that are "new to me" are getting rare to find.

EDIT - I even broke down and bought a Hard Times Token the other day.

Fuzzy, I feel for you... I know that Hard Times tokens are less desirable than CWTs to collect . Must have been hard on you .

I don't think CWTs are getting scarce... I think they're getting more $$$ to buy... especially on E-Bay.

Go to a coin show that Steve Hayden is at. He has LOTS of CWTs (both patriotic & store cards). Some of the rarer ones he has are very expensive, but most are very reasonable in price. Plus, he always does 10% less than his listed price.

buying coins/tokens at shows is difficult for me. I already have lots and luckily I have only bought a few duplicates

Fuzzy, you should make an inventory list of your CWTs to reference when you go to shows...

Here's my latest pick-up..

Dave H,
On my Droid MAXX, I have lists of my CWT and BYS. Many/most of the CWT at the low price tables aren't attributed.

That's why you should also bring your trusty copy of the 3rd Ed. US Civil War Store Cards book, too. Yes, it may be big & heavy, but it's the best reference book out there right now

I have tried my best to stick with mainly Civil War Patriotic Tokens.
79 Patriotic Tokens + 6 duplicates
5 Store Cards
3 Hard Times Tokens

With only 6 duplicates out of 85 total patriotics, I think you're doing great so far

With my primary focus on Jackson, MI store cards I used my iPad to photograph the two relevant pages of the new store card book. I can enlarge a portion of each page's picture as necessary to clearly see minute details.

Heading to the Spring MSNS conference this weekend to continue my search.
