That's an attractive piece there, Penny Guy. I've long been a fan of Gleason's work. It's generally primitive in style, with what I'd call more of a homespun look, as opposed to being of crude design .... pure Americana! Michigan's a tough state, city-wise. Sounds like you're making fine progress, albeit slow.

Thanks ExpoGuy. The last three I need are Coldwater, Manchester, and Saranac, just not seeing these for sale.

Say there, PennyGuy. I happened to speak with an old friend, just today. He had all the Michigan towns but two. He said to be cautious if you spot a Saranac, as there are some twenty year old counterfeits out there.

Thanks for the warning ExpoGuy. Saranac is hard to find, and there are more and more counterfeit CWT's out there. Somewhat recently I've see more common JacKson MI counterfeits. I live in Jackson and sort of specialize in those tokens.

Counterfeiting of CWTs is definitely increasing... or it seems anyways...

That is a pretty one, Dave. Interestingly, I recently acquired a piece of Knapp's scrip for my NY Civil War collection. The paper stock is so thin that I'm as yet unable to snap a decent pic. Here it is for now ...

What a beauty Dave. Maybe play with lighting to bring out the blue toning.

Great Civil War era note ExpoGuy. An example of wat was used when coins were being hoarded. I found something similar for a Jackson MI CWT exhibit I am putting together.

That's an attractive vignette on that 20 cent note, Penny Guy. The denomination is an uncommon amount, too. Looks like yours was unissued. What I liked about my "scripmate" is that it shows an image of Knapp's building, and it bears his signature. Penny Guy, I found some interesting history on Cooper, Thompson & Co. ... https://books.google.com/books?id=c...20Co&f=false

Paralyse ... Your two pieces remind me of a collection that I one thought of forming but never got around to doing. It was a CWT collection that would have naught but animal pictorials. There are a good many to be had, store cards and patriotics. You're off to a flying start with the eagle and the stag. Rack 'em up!

Sounds like a plan, Exo. ;)
