I am curious. What kind of reactions are getting when you use those half dollar and dollar coins?

In my five years of spending them, most just acknowledge that I paid with a dollar or 50 cents. Sometimes, their eyes light up and they take an interest in the coins. The cashiers remark how cool or unusual they are, and how it's been a while since they've seen one in circulation.
Rarely have I had cashiers give negative reactions to them, and refusals are even rarer still.

I've been busy the last week.
$7 on lunch
$9 at supermarket
$25 on take out
The take out purchase gave me quite a chuckle. The cashier had to go ask their manager if they would accept "these gold coins". Then they spread them out on the counter to add them up. I may have to limit future purchases to under $10.

I spent $10 in halves at a burger restaurant, and left an Ike in the tip jar. This is $11 total in coins.
