I have a group of 3 that I got a while back for $7.00. I only have pics of the obverse of each, although they have the faint remnants of the reverse. There's almost a date on that last one, but not quite.

Great! Even old crusties have their own character. Love trying to discern features and attributes on the old ladies. I was beginning to fear I was doomed to frolic today.

Here's my offering for the day. Quote: mackwork: I didn't want everybody to get too bored today. OK, so here's a 1793 I received in change at Walmart yesterday. Here's the reverse - can anyone determine the 1793 variety?

I'm thinking your first is an 1840 large date Cippy... The second one has me stumped... Didn't know they had telephones in the 1790's

cipster - the date on that first one kinda looks like an 180? to me. Gonna get that 1793 certified?

Okay, so I only have two large cents (they're kind of hard to come across over here - that's two out of two I've ever seen offered), and one of them is a pretty decent (VF+) 1841 (so it won't come up until August). The other, however, is a prime candidate for this day. My best guess for the date is 1823; coincidentally, the original seller's guess was 1890 (which is just plain laughable). And here it is! (It's not actually rotated of course, it's just that I chose the obverse photo that did the best job at showing LIBERTY).
