I have been keeping a near mint 1999P Jefferson nickel for several years believing that it had a possibly 'valuable' minting defect. There are several shallow, rounded, flat-bottomed cavities on the 'Monticello' face. (The opposite side appears uninvolved.) I have been told that this is post-minting 'bubbling', and of no value. Is this corrects? Thanks.

Give it a good soaking in acetone & watch the "defect" disappear.

Glue! Well, I be darned! Thanks, I never thought of that. I guess my wife doesn't get the fur coat, but maybe she can find some use for the plastic bag that I've been keeping the nickel in.
