mwr1550 Valued Member United States 193 Posts	Posted 08/10/2012 09:55 am I just traded a guy 6 older record albums from the 70's for a 89 Prestige set. Is the half dollar silver? It didn't come with a COA so I don't know. Also, does anyone know where I can get a COA? Report this Post to the Staff

commems CCF Master Historian of USA Commemoratives United States 12330 Posts	Posted 08/10/2012 10:34 am The half-dollar in the 1989 Prestige Set is copper-nickel; the dollar coin is 90% silver, however. It will likely be difficult tracking down a standalone COA, but check ebay on a regular basis. Empty cases/boxes/COAs sometimes are offered when the seller has submitted the coins for grading/certification. Collecting history one coin or medal at a time! (c) commems. All rights reserved. mwr1550 Valued Member United States 193 Posts	Posted 08/10/2012 12:50 pm Thanks commens, The reason I asked about the half being silver or not is that I saw someone on e-bay selling a set and he/she claimed the half was silver as well. They must have known better because they had the COA with it. However he was talking about the commemorative half I should have made myself clearer that that was the coin I was referring to. Only the 1982 Washington and the 1993 bill of rights halves were produced in 90% silver. All other modern commemorative halves are clad copper nickle. Report this Post to the Staff
