Not mine. The bidding on this 1883 nickel got too rich for my tastes. I really liked how the patina sets off the fine highlights of the coin. Bottom line, I couldn't reach that high for a coin with some corrosion issues, even if it looks cool.

Brandmeister, that 1883 Liberty nickel sold for ~ $7 - you should have grabbed it! Just wondering what was going on with the V besides the scratches, or is it all scratches and damage?

That area in the V made me think twice. My guess is someone was trying to clean the corrosion. Or maybe it was just circulation damage atop the patina. It looks recent, though.

That crown is a really aesthetic coin. Even the wear on St. George and the dragon make the design more handsome against the darker field.
