I just can't stop buying, my favourite sellers must have brought a collection of mediocre condition renaissance and early modern coins for me to buy!!

Here is the latest cream to join my families of Halfcrowns and Shillings.

William and Mary Halfcrown, 1689 - conjoined busts first design with shield, high VG and a great circulation cameo that should please JBuck. My first coin of this monarch coupling (I have W3 by himself). This is the more scarce second shield and bust combination.

A great addition to the neglected halfcrown collection, an additional 17th century coin and another Monarch ticked off that bucket list. Only George I stands between me and Charles I in having a halfcrown from every reign since 1635.

Another 18th century shilling, this one is a 1758 George II, the most common of all his shillings (Possibly with LIMA ones). The coin was very cheap (£25 or less) and is a grubby full fine.

The last regular issue of shillings until 1816 (Excluding the big 1787 one off issue, the 1763 Northumberland and 1798 Dorien Magens are both rare coins). 1757 and 1758 were those years where the sixpences and shillings were plentiful and most are found in this condition or worse as they were pretty much used for 60 or more years, this is a decent coin.

I did miss out on a 1711 Anne Shilling in similar state, there was a bidding war for that one - It went for $98 (£51) vs a starting price of $64. I pulled out at $85 - as the halfcrown became a possibility (Despite all this spending, I still have bills and obligations).

Final coin is a decent 1940 English shilling coin, EF/AU with black wear on the King.

Again my philosophy is to buy the best I can with the modern and easy to find dates (Well next to early Georgian and Renaissance era coins, 1940 is modern!).

Great additions, Princetane! I like your William & Mary halfcrown especially - mine is in similar condition but has an overall grey tone but yours has great circulation cameo!

Yes, those 1758 shillings had a hard life! Yours was a great buy for under £25!

By 1815 the condition of most silver coins circulating in the UK must have been dreadful...

Just a couple of old Irish silver Bank tokens from the Regency Period. The 30 pence and six shillings are halfcrown- and crown-size, respectively.

with the above.

Also made me look up what the "Regency Period" was. Now I know a bit more about British history.

They are beautiful and I loved the odd values. They also had 5d, 10d and 18d. Those are gorgeous!

2000 issue Royal Mint The Sovereign Mintmark Collection
Post-Your-United-Kingdom-Great-Britain-Coin-Acquisitions.
I haven't posted this set on CCF yet as best that I can recall. It's in the safe tucked away and buried in the back and next time I see it, I am going to take pictures of each coin.

This 7 gold sovereign coin set confuses me but I like it. It states these are assembled with actual coinage meant for circulation so I am thinking these dates are accurate and the coins are really that old. The COA states this and also says that they are in at least VF condition, however these all appear to be in uncirculated condition without any super close examination. They are all pleasing examples.

I thought they would have a date on them for 2000 or something since the booklet is copyrighted as such. This is set number 819 out of the total 958 sets that were assembled by The Royal Mint.

One 1925 dated London Mint sovereign (no mintmark).
One 1925 dated sovereign from the Sydney Mint in Australia (mintmark S).
One 1925 dated sovereign from the Melbourne Mint in Australia (mintmark M).
One 1919 dated sovereign from the Perth Mint in Australia (mintmark P).
One 1911 dated sovereign from the Ottawa Canada Mint (mintmark C).
One 1918 dated sovereign from the Bombay India Mint (mintmark I).
One 1925 dated sovereign from the Pretoria South Africa Mint (mintmark S.A.)

I have read that some sets were assembled and had duplicate mintmark coins. I guess I got lucky, these do have the mintmarks in the order that I have listed them.
Each coin is 22 mm and has a fineness of 22 kt and a weight of 7.98 grams.

In one sense, any issue limit decided for these sets is rather arbitrary, as it would be possible to collate many thousands of such sets, but we notice from the certificates accompanying the "Sovereign Mintmark Collections" that "Only 958 Sovereign Mintmark Collections have been assembled by The Royal Mint".
Actually, this is not an issue limit, as it does not exclude the possibility that more would be assembled at a later date, for example immediately after they sold out of the first launch.
This seems to be the case, as the "George V Sovereign Mintmark 7 - Coin Collection" is also subject to some stipulated maximum figure, over and above the 958 "2000 Royal Mint The Sovereign Mintmark Collection".
