Quiet around here lately!
Here's a nice 1831 halfpenny token from my Isle of Man box. I *think* it's a solid EF but will welcome all opinions in either direction.Withers 2100

I really like the rose copper and that Isle of Man isn't too shabby either!
P.S. Isle of Man TT race highlights is what I'm watching in the background. A bucket list item to go and see in person.

I picked this one up this week to go with my other 20th century proof sixpences - a 1949 proof pattern uniface. The rarest one I now own, with only 6 being struck. Rated R6 in the ESC (4271)

Great pick-up, Kipster! What I don't understand is how a British coin with a population of 6 is not an R-10!

Looks like traffic's been pretty light around here lately...must be summer!
Here's another intriguing selection from my Regency Period silver tokens, an 1811 shilling issued by the Marlborough Old Bank in Wiltshire. The names listed on the reverse are the bank's four partners, local gentlemen of means who were well established in business, finance, and the law.
I'm not aware of any other token from that era -- copper or silver -- that used such a crude, misaligned letterset for its legends; some of it looks like what we now call "cursive" but hand-shaped with Play-Doh, perhaps. Maybe out of embarrassment, the Bank issued a less slapdash, more formal-looking type later in the same year...I'll post mine in the near future.
The other interesting thing about this token, to my mind, is that in 1811 Marlborough's so-called *Old Bank* had been in existence for only twenty years. I don't get it.Wiltshire, Dalton 1. Nicely toned and dirty EF, RR.
