I guess this is a die chip. It reminded me of the moon on an Ike hence why I called it a moon. I have a few others coming just like it.

Edit: Thanks for overlooking my senior moment. I'll still call it a moon but I really meant the Earth on an Ike.

can you get a better (closer) close-up of this? Maybe with the light source coning in from a slight angle.

Thanks for this - never saw it before. I am not sure this is the same because this one is not at the center of the coin. I have no idea what causes the rings and spirals in the article you reference but it looks like rotational ridges caused by machining.

I did try to get some when I posted but they did not turn out well. I will try some more but it will take a while.
