I wasn't sure if my scanner would capture the nice overcast-blue sky on the obverse of this silver shilling token struck in 1811 for the Bewicke Main Colliery of Newcastle-on-Tyne in Northumberland, Britain.

This piece is one -- my favorite -- of a dozen or so silver tokens I purchased some years ago from a British dealer who said they'd all been swaddled in a North Yorkshire gentleman's velvet-lined cherrywood cabinet drawers since the mid-1800's. I'll be posting some of the more interesting toners from that group over the next few weeks.

Newcastle-on-Tyne, Northumberland, Dalton 5.

Allcoinage, that's a tough call through the cellophane, but I'd go no higher than VF, based primarily on the wear evident on the reverse. Whether that thumbprint is a grading factor or to be considered separately as "details" is also a question worth asking, I should think.

Yes I might take it out of 2x2 and capsule it better views outside of 2x2 ? Was thinking a touch higher that VF but good call. Not my thumbprint but I didn't notice that for all we know could be George's thumbprint lol, but highly unlikely.

I turned this into a small display/diorama of 1966 Britain with other pictures of the queen from Maundy Thursday in 1966:
