Looking for grading opinions on my newest dollar, a 1951 with SWL at the rear of the canoe. Lots of remaining lustre, but pretty baggy. Thanks!

Thanks for the opinions. My feeling was that it was either AU-55 or MS-60. I took more careful photos, which may illustrate the surface condition better than the first pair.

too much ware on the face for it to be ms, maybe au 50 at best

Am I the only one seeing VF30-35? Look at the hair, not to mention the innumerable field scratches. The only thing it has going for it is the face and the ear and maybe the hill.

I think the hair detail is actually quite strong.
I'm still sticking to xf45 to au50.

I find it interesting that there is such a broad range of opinions on this one. Let me preface my comments by saying that these photos are doing a good job of picking up every minute surface imperfection. The first places I check for wear are the highest spots on the obverse. I concur with doubeeagle59 in that the hair detail is strong, as is the ear. The cheekbone and eyebrow are a bit harder to tell because of the highlights. Personally, I can't see the grade being lower than AU, and I'm trying to be as objective as I can. I would urge anyone offering grade opinions to disregard the first pair of images; they are a worse representation of the coin than the second set, for several reasons. Also, there is a large smudge, maybe from a thumb print, dominating the reverse near the top from 10 to 2 o'clock. It's hard to differentiate it from fine scratches. Thanks again.

I think AU is definitely the grade.
We could debate back and forth if it's a 50 or as high as a 58.
I may have been too strict with an ef45 and I also doubt it's an MS.

I don't see any wear in the photos,I see a baggy coin that's toned in an unflattering way.MS62

I have to agree with DBM that it does have a lot of superficial bag marks that detract from the whole. Theres not a part of the field that doesn't have marks. This coin was definately on the bottom of the bag. At the top of the date, the marks seem to criss-cross diagonally. Strange. AU at best.
