Truth be told, it will be worth more to some people, less to others, and exactly the same to the rest. . . There's a faction of collectors who like pretty toned coins Many like theirs brilliant uncirculated with no toning whatsoever. Then you'll also hear from the 'silver is silver' crowd who say it doesn't matter. Depending on how it looks, I could see being able to find someone to pay you a premium for a uniquely toned elephant.
What do you think of it? In the end, that's all that really matters, right?

I'd be interested in hearing from other forum members who collect the Somalian coins as to how they are coming along in terms of condition... I am interested in hearing how these following coins are holding up:
- colored somalian elephants- milk spots? toning?
- ultra high relief proof somalia elephants,, any smudge marks, milk spots, toning?
I been looking at my somalia HR elephant and looking closer, in more day light and angles, the coin really is a mess, with lots of scratches and milk spots, depending on the angle are really visible.

Is the new 2014 colorized elephant showing up on ebay an official release? It is similar to the previously issued day colorized coin but with a blue sky instead of orange. And did they release more of the orange sky day coins (previously available only in the two coin set)? The mintage on those must be higher now.

I was very disappointed with the quality of my HR elephants, some milk spots and smudges. So I sold them

@sodude Yes, I noticed that also and was wondering the exact same thing. Those single colored ones dont seem the same as the night and day set. I am waiting to see if more dealers carry these, right now I only saw a dealer from Estonia carrying them. It would be nice to see some actual photos as well instead of an image of the coin, then we could see if these are indeed different coins. @solid yea and now I see why the first release of the Somalia HR coins was a dud, very poor quality. Why MCM was selling these are PF 70s, with milkspots is beyond me but they are not high grade coins. I will not be buying those again. Again, I can see why the first release didnt sell well, in fact I bought a non graded 2013 which I ended up returning because of black smudges on the coin on various parts. My thought then was, ok, graded should be different. Well, I was wrong because that coin is even worse, with milk spots on the front and back, scratches.... so yea, if you are reading this, avoid the Somalia silver high relief coin like the plague. Only if you can inspect the coin and have the ability to return, then try it. But I suspect they are all of poor quality. Finally, I had been wondering why was APMEX slashing prices on their 2013's well clearly quality was an issue.

Well, if the new colored coin is an official mint product, then I am not going to continue buying any new issues. Three colorized elephants in one year is silly and the quality of the coins is spotty at best.
With seven months left in the year I wonder how many more 2014 elephant products they can come up with.

People are seeing Milk spots on German bullion now? Uh-oh. I thought we (Canada) had the monopoly on that insulting lack of quality control.

@Anjohl Yea, I bought on ebay, from the big dealer MCM a 2014 High Relief Somalia silver elephant proof coin. The coin was graded on a slab, PF70,, they sold it to me with milk spots and scratches... these HR Somalia coins are a disaster, I hate to say,,,being that I am a BIG somalia elephant coin fan!

Somalia Elephants are known to have milk spots. I have a tube of 2013 and some of them have big spots like SML do.

Have one of 2012, also with few but small milk spots.
Actually, looks like they might appear almost on every coin (here I refer to the bullion).
Chinese Panda, 2012 have with small milk spot.
Didn't see any only on the Britannia's

Yea I can accept some of these issues on the bullion somalia silver elephant coins.
Where I am NOT happy is the High Relief coins, and more to the point, graded HR Somalia elephant coins, MCM sold me some and they got milk spots on both sides of the coin. Go figure.
I do have a proof set tho,, of Somalia elephants and they are just fine, so I think thats where I might just collect, tho to tell you, I do like the bullion even with milk spots... which happen in almost all bullion coins.

I have noticed that the top coin in the tube tarnishes while the rest stay ok. Still an awesome coin!
