@Bekiz Yes, I have a couple sets of the proof ones, last one I bought was a 2012, the proof coin is perfect for me. No milk spots, no smudges, very nice and clean and the details of the elephants stand out.
I am stalking a slabbed 2014 Somalia elephant proof 1 coin, single. I like the sets but I dont have the room for it and I am not tooo crazy about fractional coins.
@tola
Oh, without a doubt, this is one of my FAVORITE series of coins. I think they are great.
I did see one of my coins in the night and day set got some toning on the edge of the coin.....

so I am looking at these auctions on ebay and I see someones got a photo of one of those single colored coins it does appear these single colored coins, are not the same as the earlier Jubilee set.... in fact like in the day coin, in the background of the day coin, there's a tree covering the sun.... also one dealer has it listed as a run of only 100 per coin.... very interesting....

"Please note the this coin is colorized by a third party experienced company."
So it seems this third party company has copied the color scheme from the original day coin from the 2-coin day/night set. That day coin (with the orange sky) was exclusive to the set and there were only 500 sets issued.
It looks like they've come up with some new color schemes. And they also add gilding and holograms to coins.
I assume this will destroy the value of colorized coins, because they could just as well start colorizing and gilding back dated Somali and Zambia elephants to look like the original mint issued products.
And what's to stop them from copying Canadian and Australian colorized coins?

I dunno,,, some of these colored and gilded elephant coins do extremely well.
Looks like that other set with the night and day seems to be selling pretty good
I have colored somalia elephant coins and I thought I wouldnt be a fan but they are really nice, they do a good job.
BTW- anyone on the forum here ever purchased gold somalian elephant coins?

Now they are colorizing coins from back years as well. There is a new color scheme for the 2012 Somali Elephants. I wouldn't be surprised if they have produced more of the 2012s with the original color scheme as well.
They could actually create a new color scheme for each coin every year. So we would have the 2012 coin with the 2014 color scheme, and then we would get the 2012 coin with 2015 color scheme, etc.
Same with the gilded.
I think I'm done with the elephants.

Hi Solidifier I purchased some Benin Elephant "Protection of Nature" series Silver Gilded coin 1,000 Francs 1 oz Proof-like 2014. So I had a look at the Somalian Elephant coins on offer around the traps. Just looking at Elephants as silver bullion coins. Looking at this thread I was hopeing to get some info on the 7 different colours on the same coin and I am just as confused. Quote: They could actually create a new color scheme for each coin every year. So we would have the 2012 coin with the 2014 color scheme, and then we would get the 2012 coin with 2015 color scheme, etc.
Same with the gilded. So where am I now? The answer is I am not touching these coins..........

I love the somalia BU series and had considered the gilded and colored variations but too many of them are not done by the issuing mint and still are asking premiums. Ultimately, if it's not done by the issuing mint, it's a fake release in my book and it only takes away from the official versions.

I do not know what is what! It is like the same coin made in pure silver but also made in a very much cheaper metal and they both look exactly the same!
