My recent uncleaned batch has spat out another! 2 in one lot, thats pretty lucky.

I already know one of them, a centaur right with bow, thats still cleaning.


But heres one I'm stumped on:

What is that meant to be?

with bing, its a bing it's a gallienus liber pater with panther (or tigres)

Gallienus-Zoo-Coins, you can pick out the "op co" of the
LIBEROPCONSAVG on the reverse.

Ha and here I thought the "panther" (jaguar) was native to the Americas. Is it a lion or a tiger?

well, it's kind of confusing, especially since this was long before modern taxonomy (now lions and tigers are in the panther family), but I guess the usage of the word usually applies to a color variant of a leopard or puma...this can probably explain it better...

darn good eye Bing - it is indeed a panther/tiger.

And, I'm afraid to say, the centaur isn't a centaur! I cleaned it up some more and its a stag. I'm pretty dissapointed - that was the main coin I got the lot for! Oh well, still a pretty thing to have.
