It's an imitation Ottoman coin, sometimes known as a "belly dancer's coin"The other name is a Spangle or Sequin.

Thanks, I thought possibly a contemporary imitation of their small gold pieces or do you think this is recent?

The regnal year appears to be 78 in line with most imitations.
