Is This Coin Off Center Or Broad Strike Or Both

If it were off center/broadstruck there would be no reeding on the rim of the coin. But I see some. It is a MAD coin. Miss Aligned Die. The hammer die is adjustable and the anvil is stationary. It is a mild mad. They become more interesting when the devices fall over the rim.

I agree. Broadstrikes and off centered strikes are struck out of the collar. Since the collar applies the reeding on the half dollar they will not have reeding. I have heard minor MAD's (uncentered but with the full design)such as this catagorized two different ways. 1. They are so common that it is obvious they are an acceptable strike so they are not an error. 2. They are not perfect so they are an error but they fall into the catagory of an uncollectable error.

Regardless of which way you catagorize it I would not keep them except as maybe one example for education purposes. Look for the ones with design running off the coin like the one COOP posted.
