Quote: JSH: The first Strike Silver Eagle MS-70. ABSOLUTELY! That's not worth a 300% premium. Of course not! Now, maybe if it had a little green CAC sticker attached to it...

I'd be more than okay with it, Hawk. As much as I'd love to actually make money off the silver I've bought, I actually enjoy it so much, I'd almost hate to sell at any price, even if it were $100 per ounce. It took me nearly five years to hit my first 1K, so $4 silver would simply make it that much easier to add the next 4 thousand ounces :)

11:02pm eastern time... per the Kitco chart, we're at $18.79... That inevitable sub-19 referred to minutes ago is already here with bells on!

Good point 21 as if they got a little spoiled at 1800 they just gotta make adjustments like the rest of us when their products value is down....
Cutbacks, sav here or there, downgrade or layoff staff and get down and dirty the oweners selves etc., they find a way....

Pretty much, if theyre smart anyway. I'm sure some of small mining/poorly run operations will go under most will adjust or just up production to make up for less profit. The larger ones may already have some of their future production sold to someone anyway whose eating the losses. The one big adjustment is probably that the harder to get stuff will probably be abandoned soon and theyll go back to their easier mines

Even at sub 19 the 10 oz silver bars on ebay are still bringing 235 on lesser generics and 315 plus on tougher to find Engelhards and J&Mz....

Well not much T really as when silver is up around 35 an 40 those nicer bars do bring more like 4 to 5 hundred but that is crazy buying as we all know to well now. NEVER buy over 35 I figure and buying in low 30s and the best coarse of action baring just stacking as much as possible with way long term goals in mind, via dust in the wind the extra money wasted to get silver in high 20z and low 30z....

I've been elsewhere so I'm catching up on a lot of reading. Apologies if I missed part of the discussion.
I get that no one wants to touch this falling knife given the huge price drop. However, I am curious to know if there's been any panic selling in the physical market? I would also expect, maybe, a slight uptick in numismatic value for some rare items like old pour bars and such?
Maybe I should condense my questions down to just one: where do we go from here?

Hey, Mr. Watch. I actually tried to email you yesterday to see where you'd been. Guess your settings blocked that feature, though. Anyway, we've all been trying to figure out what's going on with silver and gold. The consensus amongst those who've answered think silver could fall right back to where it was for most of its historic cycle: in single digits. I'm rooting for that eventuality, myself.

Where do you guys recommend to buy silver 1oz coins? Like American Eagles or Maple Leafs... not for any collective value just for the metal value... Ever site I have found is charging like $3-5 per coin above spot which just seems outrageous... And buying more at a time doesn't shave this by much at all.

If you use ebay, spam a few dozen auctions with multiple bids at whatever price you think is acceptable and see what happens. I used to do it all the time when I was actively buying bullion. I'd only win 1 in 10 auctions on average but if you have the time, the method can pay dividends. A lot of people on this site use Goldmart, as well.
