Hey guys.

i have a little dilemma

this one here appears proof doesn't it ?

1930-Denmakr-2-Kroner-Proof-Or-Not-?

1930-Denmakr-2-Kroner-Proof-Or-Not-?

Clearly has a cameo appearance.

I submitted it to ngc without commenting on it if its proof or not and they graded it as ms62....

I have doubts though

Tried to compare with other specimens I found but could not find any like mine.

What do you guys think?

Unfortunately, mine has pretty obviously been cleaned, & has someone's initial scratched into it, making it useless for comparison. It's very shiny!

Not a proof, unfortumately. Most of these commemorative pieces were kept by the public, and turn up in at least EF condition.
These coins in this condition make a very pleasing addition to any collection of World coins.
I have one myself, in only a slight grade below this one.

This one MS61, mine AU 58. I think Krause prices are too low for these.

Well I do agree that catalog prices are too low for high grade specimens and I dont think they are that common to justify the price.

Another nice example is the 1913 A 3 Mark from prussia with king Wilhelm. Mintage of 1 000 000 and MS63 price of 65$.

Anyways here are some better pictures of the denmark coin

What makes me wonder is the strong cameo

So if its not a proof then it must be from the first strikes when the dies where still fresh I guess ?

it definitely looks proof like....

Mmmmh...

hahaha I guess I just wish it would be a proof

Hair detail strong, moustache and eyebrow detail not so strong.
Dunno what the die for this coin was like, for the first strikes off it.

Still, I would guess an early striking. With a million struck, perhaps 30 pairs of working dies were used.
