beryl New Member United States 10 Posts	Posted 08/11/2013 06:42 am Nice note. The Bank of Cape Fear issued many notes payable at several locations in North Carolina. Most notes I've seen from the bank are from after 1850 and are colored with protectors. However the early 1840s notes look like yours. I can't see the details of your note but it does not appear to me to be a modern reproduction. If genuine or a contemporary counterfeit your $20 note is a relatively uncommon denomination - $10s are common but not $20s - and is valuable despite its condition. Where is the note payable at? Not sure where it is payable at. I have had this note for over 40 years and its been difficult to find info on it. Do you know if PCGS would grade this type of note? "LOVE THE HUNT!"
