Companies sometimes stamped coins and other well circulated items to advertise their product, W & P could be Weeks and Potter as they did this kind of thing. W & P was an ointment company.

Thanks, I do know that Weeks and Potter did overprint stamps so it is very possible they did it. But a person always wonders why you would overprint coins.

I am wondering if the coin is a little early for Weeks and Potter. As I think they were stamping coins etc in the 1860s but the script looks like their brand.
