Double Struck (?) 1824 Duit - Coin Community Forum

OneDollarMule Valued Member Australia 338 Posts	Posted 02/22/2014 11:11 am Hi everyone, Just picked up this one from a bulk lot! From what I can tell its an 1824 Duit from the Netherlands East Indies which has been double stuck (or a massive double-die?). Both sides appear to have been struck twice, one over the top of another which is strange! The coin is below. Details behind the lettering and above the coat of arms are most prominent. I was wondering if this type of thing is common on these coins? I have a number of duits from this era and this is the first I've seen with these characteristics. Report this Post to the Staff

Though, I'm speaking not for this specific variety, year, and type, but the Duit coins in general. There are many double strikes, off centers, full brockages, die clashes etc. Many of the nicest, most dramatic pieces do sell for a good premium. Nice score! Report this Post to the Staff
