However, as I have said before, no way do I buy one of these proof sets unopened. The coins get absolutely trashed from the pliofilm, so I want to see the coins before I drop hundreds of dollars on them. But that is just me. Report this Post to the Staff

Susuman Pillar of the Community United States 595 Posts	Posted 04/22/2014 9:24 pm 1954 Proof Set. When I looked at the mint packet of plastic bags, I could see that it had been re-stapled. So, at one point, the coins must have been removed and acquired some toning. This had to have happened sometime between 1954 and 1963 when this set was put into long term storage. Note the price on the box of $10 and the date of 5/10/60. Anybody else have some sets or coins? Report this Post to the Staff

My other opened 1954 proof set, which does not appear to have been re-stapled, uses the same material. My guess is that the mint changed material for 1954. Report this Post to the Staff

I do not have the envelope. I bought it without since I got a good deal on it. If I remember I will see if I can find one at the next show I go to. The Frankie is cameo on the rev, the obv has cameo lettering but not Frankie. Close. The reverse of the dime shows its cameo in the pic, but, again, the obv falls short. sigh Report this Post to the Staff
