2001 P 5 Cent Finish Looks Off - Coin Community Forum

aswag Valued Member United States 214 Posts	Posted 10/28/2014 1:34 pm I have a 2001 P 5 cent that looks more like a cupro-nickel in terms of how it is toning (i.e. it isn't as shinny as other P 5 cents and looks slightly tarnished). It weighed 3.9g vs. 4.0g for the shinny 2001 P I have. So that rules it out as a 4.5 cupro-nickel planchet. My guess is that it missed one of the electro-plating baths which would account for it being slightly under weight. Anyone else seen this? Or am I just looking too hard?
