Chola Empire 1 Stater Raja Raja Chola I A.D. 985-1014 A.K.A. an Octopus man coin. Little gunk on the back that appears to be stable so I'm leaving it alone. Sorry for the bad pictures, it is very overcast here today so natural lighting is not working for me.

Nice ones Alranger! I came for the Herbert but I stayed for the Chola. Distant contemporaries!

AR carries the decade again, with a nice coin. I have a later sri lankan "octopus", I would like to get one like yours as well.

Okay, I have another coin to post for the 1000-991 decade then I am out for a bit so hopefully someone can fill in. I didn't realize what a huge hole I had in my coin collection. Easy to get thinking you have a substantial collection until we have something like this going on. Might be time for a trip to some new coin shops.

I've got a couple of coins from the 10th century, but I expect this area to be pretty anemic for us.
it's always a good time for new coins!
