that's a nice looking coin gooner! the obverse reminds of the style of some late roman bronze coins.
time for the sixties, post you coins dated 961-970 AD!

I have a couple of blanket date coins for the next few centuries, but I think we will need the Byzantine, Islamic and early medieval collectors to carries us through the Dark Ages.

well, looks like we've stalled. I assume we are just in a spot where nobody has anything to post, I suspect this would be a rough spot. if I get a motion to move on from a forum member and a second from another, we'll move on to the next decade with no coin for the 950's. if anyone would like to end the thread here i'd like to hear i'd like that input as well.
hope everyone is having a good weekend!

ok, thanks for all your contributions ED!
so I guess the interest or coins are drying up for this thread? I'm cool with letting it die a natural death if everyone else is.

Chris, maybe if you change the direction the dates are going, another words stop here are start with coins back in ancient times. More of us have ancient coins than medieval ones. Just a thought.

i thought about the same thing, that's a good idea. i think the original intent of meds thread was somewhat to see how far back we could go. we have our answer, the 950's. well, it was a good run. thanks to all the guys that posted some awesome medieval coins like eddiediz, allranger, gooner, and petrus (plus others) that usually don't post over here that showed off some neat stuff. thanks to all the usual ancient crew as well. thanks to med for organizing the thread and thanks to AM for taking the helm for him. and thanks to me for being at the helm while the ship goes down....lol!

I am not prepared to give up the fight before the ancient guys take the field. We knew this would happen in the Dark ages, I have several blanket date coins that could get us through the 10th, 9th and half of the 8th where the early Byzantines, Arabs and Huns all pick up. I think we should consider all options before we abandon ship.
