1806 Draped Bust Real Or Fake? - Coin Community Forum

4321 New Member United States 31 Posts	Posted 02/12/2015 6:26 pm the weight of this coin is 12.64g, while it's supposed to have 13.5g. this is a loss of about 9% of weight. I am no expert on the type, but I would imagine a counterfeiter would aim a little higher. That scratch right down the bust really detracts from the coin Report this Post to the Staff
Celticsoul Pillar of the Community United States 1566 Posts	Posted 02/12/2015 6:50 pm I'm not a half expert but I do collect Draped Liberty large cents and it looks real to me. Notice how the stars are broken out to the rim. That's indicative of a late die state. Who would try to fake that? Report this Post to the Staff
