Quote: TypeCoin - I have no idea of the variety on the quarter. I wouldn't think it's counterfeit unless they were cranking them out in the early 60s when I bought it. Attached is close up of stars 1-3. I don't doubt the authenticity of your coin. Here are examples of the counterfeits the Chinese are cranking out: That 1818 would be especially deceptive to someone unfamiliar with the specs of this series. I want to buy one just to identify the diagnostics and specs of this counterfeit.

Looks like the B-8 variety also shares this obverse.

Trying to stay with recent purchases since you've all seen most of my bust halfs way too many times.

Quote: if anybody can attribute it, that would be great, thanks!) I'm guessing O-113 R.3 Obv. Star13 is very close to curl. Mouth open. nearly all show a fine crack at upper points of star 7, that gradually extends across headband, ear, curls and upper points of star 11 to edge. Rev. Arrowheads close and lightly connected. Right side of T and left side of I in line. Quote: Here are examples of the counterfeits the Chinese are cranking out:
I would like to see one of these. Quote: I want to buy one just for this purpose Where can I order this.

As an side observation - the overwhelmingly majority of coins posted thus far in this thread have been half dollars. Only a handful of quarters have been posted, and unless I have overlooked something, no dimes as of yet.
I am guessing that this reflects the lesser availability of the quarters and dimes today v.s the half dollars? (as opposed to popularity?)
