Hard to tell, but I think it looks more like ejection doubling.

If you go to coppercoins site, you should be able to find pics of this kind of doubling. He shows it well in his book which I highly recommend, "Looking Through Lincoln Cents".

The best I can describe is that it almost looks like someone scooped out metal with an ice cream scoop.

Looked intresting on the date and the jaw. But the LIBERTY is Machine Doubling. Check the reverse to see if you find more Machine Doubling. 1968-69 is known for the heavy Machine Doubling. But the date looked interesting.

The date, Chin and LIBERTY all exhibit forms of Mechanical Doubling.
