After a bit of gentle cleaning I immediately recognized it as a base metal coin with silvering...but up until now I hadn't known of the term "fouree". The fact that it's a fouree in no way detracts from the interest of this coin. In fact...it only adds to it! An ancient counterfeit. Sweeeeet!
