I think my William IV halfpenny counts as a lowball - either 1826 or 1827... Poor William looks like a cartoon character!

A pair of Victorias. On the left, an 1868 threepence. The other is an 1872 Canadian 5 cents.

Posted recently in the respective Women of Rome thread. I suppose it could count as a lowball - it's certainly quite worn... Diva Faustina (Senior), AR denarius, Rome mint?, RIC 351? Obverse: D[I]VA-FA[VSTINA], bust of Faustina right Reverse: AET[ER-NITA]S, Aeternitas standing, facing left?, holding globe? to left, veil billowing out around and behind her

Lowball ancients are good for lots of fun. They provide a real challenge to fully identify them. Without any identification, they can be really cheap to buy. The same coin with full identification can at least double in value. You learn lots along the way.

A dirty and worn 1940 Nicaraguan Centavo. I actually spotted this coin lying on the ground on a Nicaraguan mountainside when I was visiting there last month.

Quote: Not sure if this coin has been handled as in a pocket piece or if it was tumbled dried. There's speculation it could be both. Either/or I find it quite nice. Very nice!

I found this dateless Buffalo nickel lying right on the surface of a steep hillside when I was out metal detecting last Friday. Lowball glory and wonderfully toned after 70 or so years in and on the ground.

Here a couple of junk bin lowballs. The top is an Antioch provincial of Augustus (I'm not sure which type, since the lettering is nearly obliterated) and the bottom is something Ptolemaic. Edit: I didn't realize it cut off the bottom of each picture, but you get the idea.
