to ths forum. There are posts on the die that makes the inside of the letters. They were worn on this die and resulted in "chips". Interesting, but spendable.
This one looks more like a slight amount of grease that has filled these devices making them weak in shape. If the deepest part of the die is filled, the devices will look wider. That is what I'm seeing on this one.
I posted a 1926 Lincoln Wheat cent that I was told was PMD now that I look at it from watching that very helpful video is a double struck coin inside the collar complete will light letters on lincolns shirt here I was thinking it was worthless I think I might have a great coin here I cant believe it I'm happy
You certainly know your stuff, Coop. I see exactly what you're saying. It is the result of grease indeed. If it was just a small chip, it would have been a worn or broken post. Less room on the die - the planchet metal has to go somewhere, more room on the die - the metal fills in.
Well I still have a lot to learn in coin collecting I thank everyone for there help I'm hoping one day I can help others the way all of you have helped me thank you again so just to be sure the quarter is not the error coin ?
