Found this tonight, Has anyone ever seen this coin with a doubled die or is it just heavy MD..Maybe the last coin this die made, pretty rough with scratches.

The obverse die was so over polished that all the devices are smaller. (The devices are tapered. wider at the bottom. so when they over polish the fields, it reduces the size of the devices)

The reverse devices are that overall size. The lines in the center of those devices are distracting when you look at it.

You will see a lot of cents from the 80's looking like the middle of the devices are deteriating faster than the rest of the coin giving it the appearance of a line down through the middle-no idea exactly why this was happening with the early zincolns but they seem to have gotten better
