New To Paper Money Collecting - Coin Community Forum

I have always looked at currency at shows and such, but never really thought about collecting. At the ANA show in Dallas earlier this month, the bug hit me big time. I purchased my first note. A 1928 Silver Certificate graded by PMG as AU 50 EPQ. Something about the note just looked interesting. So far I have purchased the newest edition of Paper Money of the United States (20th Edition). Being that I am not well versed in paper money, but am learning, I am only looking at certified notes as of right now. Once I learn more, that may change. Any advice that anyone has for a newbie would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Report this Post to the Staff

This book has everything but confederate and obsolete currency, but it is a must have, great book! Also the 10th edition Standard guide to Small Size U.S. Paper Money 1928-Date by Schwartz and Lindquist A Great book for the smaller US Notes If you are into confederates or obsoletes/southerns I can recommend some good books I use.
