Here's the second commemorative British 2-pound coin issued in 2005. It shows St Paul's Cathedral in London and was issued to commemorate 60 years since the end of WW2. It's one of the commemoratives most frequently encountered in circulation!

Couple more gold plated Jefferson nickels, shot under artificial light.
For some odd reason, US circulating coins treated this way are appealing to me.
But I really do need to improve my photo technique.

Collecting UK coins was a bit cheaper back in 2004, as that year only one commemorative two-pound coin was issued. This commemorates Richard Trevithick, who had built the world's first railway locomotive 200 years earlier. At that time railroads were just short lines serving quarries and mines. Trevithick built a small circular track in London and operated the first passenger trains in 1808 - it was considered like a fairground ride, but it did show the potential for railroads as a form of transportation. Incidentally, the fare on that first train was one shilling:
