only proofs were known for 1894-s Barber dime. You can fairly assume that the coin is counterfeit, as stated in seller's description. I can't believe people are bidding so much for a fake coin.

How true. The seller so much as said you're wasting your money.

I completely fault the seller for stalking the sheep, but I guess that's the world we live in.

Yet none of them were struck as proofs. Like the 1913 V nickels they all started life as business strikes and then "became" proofs at some later date thanks to marketing.
