What is a "calssification"?
Trying to be brief:
Names example:
#128008; is cat (English), un gato (Spanish), neko (Japanese), Mieze (German), un chat (French), paka (Swahili), con meo (Vietnamese) and countless other
names depending on the language.
Classification:
The only one for #128008; is
Felis catus no matter the language or country.
Carolinus Linnaeus, around 1830, invented a
classification system so the worldwide
scientific community would not have the many different language
names confuse discussing plants and animals.
Generally the last two categories (genus and species) are all that is needed and using only these two is called binary taxonomy. The entire list, broad categories first and narrowing down are:
Domain, Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, Species.
Only in internet-modern times have people been "correcting" others by mistaking a
taxonomic classification as an animals
name.
Or...we had better start "correcting" people they don't have a cat but a
Felis catus
